Yuyi Seeks Constitutional Bail as State Opposes Application By Senanga For Us | August 21, 2026 Former Copperbelt Province Police Commissioner Mwala Yuyi has applied for constitutional bail before the Ndola High Court after spending about 20 days in police custody over allegations relating to the theft of copper. However, the State has opposed the bail application, arguing that the alleged offence is not eligible for bail. Ndola High Court Judge J. Zulu has reserved a ruling on the application. The date for the ruling is expected to be communicated by the court. Yuyi among several people arrested Yuyi was arrested together with several other individuals in connection with investigations into alleged copper theft involving copper cathodes reportedly recovered in Mufulira District. Those arrested included Magistrate Edward Banda, police officers Patrick Muti and Boniface Nchimunya, court clerk Obrian Chipunza, and businessman Daniel Makina.
